I’ve since figured out the ISO sensitivity was set to high by the last person that owned my camera. Hurray, I’m learning!
I bought a used Pentax K20d this week, and I’ve been taking lots of photos. I’ve had a point-and-shoot for a number of years, and thought it was high time to get a proper Digital SLR.
I enjoy the clarity of the ring image, and the depth of field in that of the lamp. I know there’s a zillion photos of cats on the internet, but what I like about the third image (noise issue not withstanding) is that playing with aperture completely took the cat out of his environment, which was sitting on a brown couch in broad daylight.
I have a loooooong way to go, since the last time I did anything serious with photography was for NSCAD over 7 years ago. Even then, it was just a one term course.
I have to reteach myself a lot, but look forward to the process of improving my photography skills, even marginally!
